EDN of Central Maryland was founded in June 2007 by a group of concerned parents, family members, and professionals who live with or work with individuals affected by eating disorders. The mission of EDN is to provide a support network, resources, education, and access to treatment for Maryland families who have a loved one with an eating disorder, and for those with eating disorders. Currently, EDN is sponsoring several community projects:
-
(1) A “Resource Room” at EDN headquarters where individuals and families can obtain information about local and national eating disorder resources;
-
(2) An online directory of local health professionals and nationwide residential programs specializing in the treatment of eating disorders;
-
(3) Support groups for individuals affected by eating disorders, and family and friends of a person with an eating disorder;
-
(4) A monthly CEU “brown bag” training for eating disorder professionals;
-
(5) A free National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAW) event every year in the spring.
Future EDN projects include reaching out to schools and creating a comprehensive directory of treatment resources in Maryland. Please check back regularly for updated information about EDN.
